Ethel Shelton was raised in a small town known as Rockdale, Texas.  She graduated with honors from Aycock High School in Rockdale Texas.  She started her college career at Abilene Christian College and later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she received her bachelors and masters degree at Corpus Christi State University. 

Ethel has been teaching for 46 years.  She started her teaching career with Bethune Day Nursery. She taught there for 5 years working with the 5 year olds.  She also, worked with 5 year olds with the Head Start Program. She work there for 10 years.  After receiving her bachelor degree, she started working for CCISD.  She work there for 25 years.  During those years, she taught Kindergarten for 15 years 1st grade for 10 and 2nd grade for 1 year.  She retired from CCISD in 2004. She is currently employed with Yorktown Christian Academy.She has worked with YCA for 5 years. 

Ethel has four grown children and four grand children.  Her oldest daughter is a pharmacist with MEDCO.  Her middle daughter is a stay home mom.  She has two daughters.  She also has her master’s degree.   Her only son has his bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology. He is employed with MEDCO.   Her baby daughter has a degree in Chemistry/Biology.  She is a Chemist for (DPT Laboratories) Dermatological Products of Texas.

Ethel worships at Hampshire Road Church of Christ.   She teaches Sunday school and Wednesday night Bible class. She teaches the 1st grade class on Sundays and the middle school class on Wednesdays. She is also a youth counselor.
