The fundamental measures for art class for all ages are based on four categories of learning.

Perception  ~  Creative Expression  ~  Historical and Cultural Heritage  ~  Critical Evaluation

During the year students will focus on visual awareness, memory, imagination and sensitivity to the environment as a source for creating artworks.  Our class uses various techniques and tools to express creativity!

 March

February 27, 2012 - All classes will be posting the Fruits of the Spirit artworks in the hallway.  Please stop by and see their great creations!  This week's lesson will cover the history of Toys, Marbles, Frisbee's and Board Games.  All of which started with an idea and design in mind. These intriguing stories describe the artful thinking process of designers and each lesson is followed up with a creative activity for students to work together to design their own board game or new toy with instructions.

March 5, 2012 - This week students will learn about the history of video games and their origins and creators who generate computer animation.  They will continue working on the board games and toys.

March 12, 2012 -  It is interesting how computer animation has spilled over to our smart phones and ipads with apps.  Students will see a demonstration of how an app is actually made. All classes will also working on a St. Patrick's Day craft!

March 19, 2012 - This week we will be discussing advertising in businesses.  Each student is encouraged to bring a cereal box for discussion.  We will be talking about patents and trademarks.

March 26, 2012 - We will be having fun developing our own advertisements for the board games designed by the children.  Look for an exciting display in April!

LOLLIPOP CLUB

Each week we discuss certain topics and if you know the answers you can be part of the Lollipop Club and win a prize!

Topic: Realistic drawing tips.  Always start with a center point, breakdown objects into recognizable shapes, darken intersections, find the direction of the sun and shade and crosshatch.
