Calendar
Download current school calendar. Starting with the 2011-2012 school year, classes will begin on July 18 and end on May 25. Please download and review the updated school calendar

Uniform Dress Code
The goal of the Yorktown Christian Academy Standardized Dress Code is to honor God in our outward appearance. Additionally the YCA dress code seeks to promote school pride and to encourage a personal sense of belonging to a school that sets high moral and academic expectations. The dress code applies to all student activities both on and off campus (i.e. sporting events, school programs, etc.). It is difficult for a dress code to be entirely comprehensive; therefore, YCA retains the right to determine the appropriateness of every student’s dress and amend the dress code as deemed necessary. Students may wear blue jeans and a Christian T-shirt or YCA Spirit Wear on Fridays.

Lunches
Students at YCA may bring lunches or purchase a lunch from some pre-arranged vendors.

Chapel/Bible
Weekly chapel services allow students and faculty members to experience worship, praise, instruction and fellowship. Bible curriculum includes weekly scripture memory.

Parent Involvement
The Yorktown Parent Action Committee (YPAC) is the primary vehicle for parent involvement at Yorktown Christian Academy.

Communication
YCA strives to keep parents and students informed at all levels.

  • E-mail, E-letters and the school web site are used to communicate to parents and students. Information about the current school year as well as policies and procedures can be found on the school web site.
  • The Monday packets for students may include class and school-wide information, and schoolwork from the previous week for elementary students.
  • Grades/Homework: YCA communicates this information via the web site. Parents/Guardians should supply YCA with an up-to-date e-mail address for communication purposes.

Student Conduct
A high standard of conduct is required of each student at YCA for the purpose of maintaining order and building Christ-like character. In grades K4 to Grade 5, the color system of discipline is enforced; students stay on 'green' until receiving a behavior warning which moves them to 'yellow'. Additional infractions lead to a color change to 'red' which involves a visit to the principal's office. In grades 6 - 8, disciplinary reports are issued. YCA does not practice corporal punishment.

Standardized Testing
Achievement tests are administered each spring to students in K - 8th grade. The school participates in the ACSI testing program which employs the Stanford Achievement Test. The tests are sent to a testing agency and YCA receives narrative reports that are distributed to the parents. These reports compare our students with national norms and norms developed for ACSI schools.
